This is a field that starts to the left of the 6th fairway and runs all the way up the valley towards the northern end. It is an area that displays the natural features of the Downs with its small copses of trees and natural grasses.

This area is a valley that runs up towards Cissbury Ring to the right hand side as you face the top of the Downs. This used to be a vineyard in Roman times but was used for target practice during the last World War.

Cissbury Ring is an Roman age fort that stands at the top of the Downs overlooking the courses. It is currently managed by the National Trust and is very popular with walkers.

A wooded copse to the right of the 6th fairway on the Lower course. It was not unusual for new greenstaff to have their leg pulled by the longer serving members of staff to be told that the area was called Monkey Island as there was a small colony of monkeys living there.
